CAMBRIDGE, U.K. (September 28, 2022) -- Sunlight.io, the edge infrastructure company, today announced its Software-Defined / Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) Product of the Year category win at the Cloud Excellence Awards 2022. Sunlight was recognised for building a software-defined / HCI product that makes running and managing applications and infrastructure at the far edge as easy as in the cloud.

The Cloud Excellence Awards is presented by Computing and winners were announced at a live awards ceremony on Thursday 22 September in London, UK. Sponsored by Accenture, Lloyds Banking Group and Vodafone Engineering, the 2022 awards recognise the very best of the UK's cloud industry, from the most innovative and compelling products and vendors, through to the top use cases from end-user firms. The cloud can enable organisations to experiment with new ideas, products and tools. It can be an incredibly efficient way to set up new infrastructure and platforms, or to remove the management overhead of parts of the IT estate the business would prefer not to keep in-house.

Sunlight makes managing your applications and infrastructure as easy as the cloud. Sunlight turns all of your edge locations into ‘micro clouds’ – each running on a single, highly available, efficient, small-footprint, ruggedised stack of hardware - and allows you to manage 100s or 1000s of these with a central dashboard in any core cloud. Sunlight‘s NexVisor HCI is based on the Sunlight NexVisor Hypervisor. This is a Type 1 Hypervisor built from the ground-up to support today’s high performance hardware technologies with almost zero overhead.

“We created the Sunlight NexVisor HCI and Infrastructure Manager to solve a real problem that we were seeing at the far edge” said Sunlight Founder & CEO, Julian Chesterfield. “Leading HCI products in the market were built for the data center - where space, cooling and power resources are plenty. But this is not the case at the edge. Our customers need something that is efficient, reliable, secure and economic. So we built it for them. The recognition for both our product and the team’s work is fantastic.”
